Autumn ’23 Bulletin

Summer was once again a hectic period for Ballinora teams as we enjoyed the entertainment provided by all age groups.

Towards the end of the school term many of our club players were involved in school competitions. Colaiste Choilm won the U16B and Senior B hurling titles and Colaiste Spioraid Naoimh had no less than 10 players in the squad including James Byrne as captain, in winning the Cork Senior A Football title. Congratulations to Ballinora national school on their great performances in the Sciath na Scol Finals. Congrats to Donagh Conway who was on the Cork primary school team.

The coaching sessions in Ballinora School continued right to the end of the school term and all teams were able to display their skills with the Tony O’Mahony tournament.

Our even age groups all competed well with our u18s getting into finals in Hurling and Football losing out narrowly on both. Our u14s had a great win v Mallow in the Premier 2 Hurling league final and our u14s C3 Hurling team had a great win over Carrigaline.

Our teams competed admirably in the Feile competitions for both Hurling and Football on what were great weekends.

Well done to all players from the club who were part of Cork teams and squads this year. It is a great reflection of the progress the club is making to have so many involved in these squads.

Special mention to Shane Kingston on winning the u20 All Ireland with Cork Hurlers and Meabh Murphy, Amy O’Riordan and Rachel Murphy on winning an All Ireland Camogie titles at senior, u18 and u16.

Congrats also to Michael Quirke who played with Cork U20 footballers and Mark O’Brien who played with Cork Minor footballers, and to Cliona Dooley, Rose Murphy and Amy Riordan who all progressed to the All Ireland series in Camogie and Football. Congrats also to Faye Larkin, Jack Trench, Jack Hegarty, Alex Lehane, Ben Hegarty & Cormac Murphy on lining out for Cork in intercounty blitzs.

Well done to Mike Lordan, Ian Wycherley and Liam Lyons who were part of the Muskerry teams that took part in the Cork Senior Championships.

The Summer show was a great success where over 100 local volunteers helped with stewarding and set up. A big thank you to all who helped in any way.

The lotto jackpot continued to rise and is climbing steadily. The numbers of €25 spot prize winners continues to grow. All funds raised go towards our facilities and the addition of flag poles and flags in Ballymaw is a great addition.

This year’s Cul camp was once again a huge success with over 180 kids taking part. A huge thanks to Colm Walsh and all who ably assisted to make this a great success. Cork Camogie winner, Meabh Murphy made an appearance and imparted her knowledge to budding your stars.

Our annual Golf Classic took place on the 25th August where almost 50 teams took part on a wonderful day. Thanks to all our sponsors, players and our organising committee.

Non player Club membership is now open, so if you wish to renew your membership or become a member, please log on to www.foireann.ie or contact any club officer.

All teams are still in full flight so please follow all the action and results on our social media sites. Wishing all teams, players, mentors, committees, volunteers every success.
