CLUB HIGHLIGHTS OCTOBER 2021.
Late September and October was a very active time on the playing fields, with our teams performing admirably in the ‘’Business End’’ of the season, with the following Events having major impact:
- Junior ‘A’ Hurlers win our 7th Muskerry Championship.
- The Donie Healy Cup & Presentation – won by our own U.12 Team
- Juvenile Club Presentation to County players; James Byrne, Neil Lordan & Nathan Davis
- Health/ Well Being; Joint Baile Nóra; Camogie/LGFA/GAA initiative led by Máire FitzGerald
- Continued parallel successes of our local LGFA & CAMOGIE CLUBS
- Scoil Bhailenóra honours Past Pupils (Girls & Boys) who played with Cork Teams
- Club Lotto being planned to start up in the near future.
- Covid Restrictions begin to ease significantly after Mid-October.
- Neutral Host Venue for Hurling, Football, LGF & Camógie Inter-Club Championship games.
PROGRESS OF ALL OUR TEAMS IN 2021 SEASON TO DATE:
- Academy Groups (U5-U11). Very successful & enjoyable Training & Go Games.
- U9/10s rounded out their year with a brave display against tough opposition in the Buttimer Cup in Ballinhassig.
- U11s making fantastic progress and developing as a solid Ballinora underage side in both codes. Players (and coaches!) picked up some great tips during a recent football training session led by Kevin O’Callaghan.
- U11/12; Won Mid/South Hurling & Football Double & Donie Healy Cup.
- U13; Won Mid/South ‘A’ Football & Runners-up in County ‘Premier 1’ Hurling Shield
- U14/15; Won the ‘Barrs’; Donie Cremin Tournament & Co ‘C3’ league (Both Hurling). In Mid/South Champ; were unluckily pipped in both the Football Final & Hurling Semi-Final.
- Minor (U16/17); In Mid ‘A’ Champ; lost both; The Foot & Shield Hurling Finals narrowly
- Minor (U18); Won Mid/South ‘A’ Football League & lost ‘A’ Hurling League Final.
- U 21; Won Muskerry ‘B’ Football Champ & Hurling to commence in November.
- Jun ‘B’ Hurling performed well in League & lost to B/Collig in Penalty Shootout in Champ.
- Jun ‘B’ Football; completed well in League & lost Champ (R1) to Aghabullogue.
- Junior ‘A’ Hurling; won Muskerry Champ & through to Co Champ (R1) v Dromtarriffe. Also, in the Muskerry League Final Play-off.
- Intermediate Football; In Co Div 6 League; beat Glenville, ‘Barrs & Mayfield, but lost to Kilshannig in Play-off. In Co Champ, beat Dromtarriffe & lost to Gabriels & Ballydesmond
REMAINING FIXTURES / COMPETITIONS IN 2021 SEASON:
The majority of 2021 Competitions are now concluded, with only the following remaining.
- Jun ‘A’ Hurling (Muskerry Champions)) meet Dromtarriffe in County 1st Round, Sat Nov 6th
- Minor (U.18) Football & Hurling Championships commencing Thu Oct 28th
- U.21 Muskerry Hurling Championship (Scheduled for November start)
- Muskerry Junior ‘A’ Hurling League Play-off.
